Village in space

An example of urbanisation in space itself.

This village like most of our villages in our time has a variety of architectural styles.

A modern councilor wanted a modern building. Thus a coulorful building was erected in front of the old schoolbuilding on the edge of the land. It houses a 3D theater, a gym, an ethical zoo, with the latest mutants that are allowed to be kept in confinement based on very strict rules about the type of mutant and a library.

Quite a few villagers are still interested in books, even very old ones.

Although college notes with photocopies in a plastic ring binder from around 1970 are the ultimate research experience at the moment.

The engine of this village consists of two parts. The first part, the fuel installation, is a special combination of organic and mechanical parts, which makes the travelling village independent of starlight when a given distance to a star does not provide sufficient energy for its solar system.  The various parts of this fuel installation are shaped like organs of large animals that are connected by heavy old-fashioned plumbing. The second part characterized by its gray metallic tubing, is the real engine. This engine is based on an invention of a superconductive magnetic field plasma and a gravity thruster principle by one of the engineers of the village. This engine is the best kept secret in the universe. Only the engineer himself and one or two other people know how this machine functions.

Although the village is a small community by definition this engineer is very famous. They offered him the right wing of the village with the bizar modern monument in his honor. A modern work of art should not be missing in an ordinary village anyway.

The right wing, behind the monument, seems to stretch out much further as a loose structure with open spaces. What is it? What is this right wing loose soil where vegetables still can be grown? The miracle is that there is a sufficient food supply from this strange piece of land. Still the inhabitants want to know how this crop growing works of course. It was a smart decision of the mayor to give the right wing as a present to his talented engineer.

The left wing of the village on the contrary is very solid and a lot shorter.

The fact remains that the village will need additional improvements to be prepared for an encounter with another planet.

The ambitious mayor of the village wants to reach much higher speeds. 500 X the speed of light (speed of light is: 299 792 458 m/s). This has been discussed in the village meetings of mayor and councilors.

No braking is necessary until a new interesting planet is discovered with its own life and culture.

Many of the details depicted in the painting of this fuel installation and the engine are protected by patents.

As always in these cases, people are also very proud of their inventions and they want to communicate that somehow. So they welcomed the idea of a painting of their village from an acceptable distance.

The bottom of this village (the other side) is also a village and in space it is actually impossible to distinguish the top from the bottom, unless you make an agreement about it.

It became clear very quickly that this side with its heavily patented engine was allowed to be painted. The other side of the village was forbidden. There is clearly a bit more going on here.

All the inhabitants are very talented and they welcome every invention that can help grow their village to the next level.

It is a rare community of hard working, very rich and very happy people.
